Born in Germany in 1974, Myriam Quiel is a German -Iranian artist who is based in Tehran since 2009. She studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden and graduated in 2003.
Her paintings are inspired by installations she arranges in her studio, kind of still lifes, where she combines different objects consisting of trash, puppets, packaging, plants, withered flowers. Fragments of photographs, parts of people's acting and destruction are part of her work. Blurred shapes, abstract patterns are elements of her paintings as well. There is no story you can follow, more associations of the flood of pictures that surround us in our modern life.
She started her work as a freelance artist in 2004 in Berlin and started her career in different German galleries. 2007 she travelled first to Iran, kind of searching her roots, and decided in 2008 to stay. From that time until now she shows her work regularly in Iran and also took part in different international group exhibitions.
